And the yard work begins...
One of our (many) favourite things about our big old house was the expansive yard. We were so fortunate to find a home with a huge lot. It may have been a beautiful space in its day, but by the time we arrived it was far past its prime. Having found old plant labels in what was once a greenhouse, we could tell the yard would have been filled with gorgeous flowers, herbs and vegetables, not long forgotten.

We bought our first house!
In December 2022 we were handed the keys to our new home. New to us of course, as the house was built in 1910. It was an estate sale, and the home was sold “as is”, but we saw the massive potential it had despite its downfalls.
Earl Grey Shortbread Cookies
This particular recipe doesn’t need to be just for the holidays, really it could be all year long. Or maybe when you’re planning an annual binge of Downton Abbey. I’ve adapted my grandmother’s shortbread recipe by adding some spoonfuls of earl grey tea and lavender for a different take.
The New Way to Wine Taste: Exploring the Okanagan
For the past few years I’ve managed to turn a trip to the Okanagan, and specifically Penticton, into an annual occurrence. The lakes, beautiful vineyards, bike riding trails and (of course) wine touring does so much to revive me and get me ready for the summer!
